By Laws:

Article I

Section 1: Membership and Qualifications

The following persons shall be eligible for membership and designation of ‘alumni’:

1. All former students who have completed 8th grade and the requirements for graduation.

2. Any former student who completed one year of student and left the school in good standing

 

Section 2: Rights and Privileges of Membership

All association members shall have the following rights and privileges:

1. to vote in all Association elections

2. to hold office in the association

3. to be eligible to receive any written or electronic publication from the association

 

Section 3: Association Members

Non-alumni friends of SMA school, including, administrative staff, teachers, pastor, religious, parents of students and or alumni and current students.

 

Article II;

Section 1: The Executive Board

The executive board of the Alumni Association shall serve as the leadership to for the alumni association.

 

Section 2: Officers

The officers of the executive board are the executive board chair; communication chair; retention and recruitment chair; events and activities chair; and fundraising chair. A list of duties and responsibilities of each position are listed under duties of the executive board. The board will also have non-voting member representatives From the SMA administrative and teaching staff.

 

Article III: Meetings

Executive Board members must make an effort to attend 50% of all meetings; in the case where they cannot make a meeting, it is there responsibility to provide updates from their areas pre-meeting to the chair and follow through on post-meeting assignments. All committee members should notify the chair when they are not making the meeting. Non-notification of missing a meeting and failure to make 50% of the meetings & to stay informed (both) could result in dismissal from the board. The executive team should hold monthly meeting but may hold more meetings as needed in preparation for a major event or in the development of committee duties.

 

The executive board will try to accommodate all e-board member schedules and make an effort to be understanding when life interferes with our meetings.

Article IV: Elections

Elections should be held for e-board positions. This is a future goal of the committee to be discussed in year 2.

 

Article V: Removal

1. Executive Board:

Non-notification of missing a meeting and failure to make 50% of the meetings & to stay informed (both) could result in dismissal from the e-board.

 

An e-board member can remove themselves at any time.

 

2. Alumni Committee:

This is a lifetime membership. However, the alumni and the association members can request to be taken off mailing lists, electronic correspondence, etc. in writing to the SMA school office. The executive committee will make every effort to honor the alumni or association members request.
